Prostitution (my constitution)

she told me
prostitution’s
my constitution
my retribution
his contribution
my damn reflection
my man’s rejection
of his erection
its ejaculation
no fall back
that’s why I lay back
for extras they smack
as I make me some cash
my dreams they are ash
my dreams they are ash
had plans
to join the institute
but now
I work the streets
I prostitute
lonely
I feel like a destitute
that I don’t dispute
that I don’t dispute
I need
resucitation
some facilitation
open invitation
help in integration
drastic intervention
hopeless situation
changes in dimension
because
prostitution’s
my constitution
my retribution
his contribution
my damn reflection
my man’s rejection
of his erection
hurts like injection

No ordinary touch

this was no ordinary touch
something about it
made me take notice
was it her soothing tenderness?
maybe her charming personality?

suddenly I was drawn to her
she occupied
every single space in my head
emotion overcame logic
I had to tell her how she makes me feel

I was scared
not sure if she felt the same
so imagine my surprise
when she kissed me on the lips
and said, ” honey…I feel the same!”

this was no ordinary touch
and it lingers on
evoking sweet memories
she makes me feel like a king
and every day she will be my queen

Kenya Cup Match Day Four Preview

Rugby action continues this weekend with matches in the Kenya Cup and Eric Shirley Shield leagues on match day four. These leagues will witness a reduced amount of fixtures owing to the fact that quite a number of sides will be engaged in the Kenya University Sports Association games running over the same weekend. Consequently, matches in the Nationwide and Universities leagues have also been postponed.

We preview the three Kenya Cup fixtures slated for Saturday 17 December 2011

Kenya Cup

Kisumu RFC v Mwamba RFC

Kisumu Polytechnic Grounds, Kisumu

Kisumu RFC were 32-5 bonus point winners over Mean Machine RFC in the first Kenya Cup clash to take place in the lakeside town. They face a Mwamba RFC side that has registered two wins on the trot, their latest result being a narrow 18-15 result over Nakuru RFC.Kisumu will be out to register a second win and will be sure to come out guns blazing against a Mwamba side that will be out to avoid being on the wrong end of the scoreline in Kisumu.

Impala RFC v Nakuru RFC

Impala Club, Ngong Road,Nairobi

Impala's 22-12 win over Nondies was the just tonic the side needed after losing 6-5 to Strathmore on match day two. A second successive win for the red shirts will see them close out 2011 with a good league placing but they will have to contend with a Nakuru side who were narrow 18-15 losers to Mwamba RFC last weekend.

Kenya Commercial Bank RFC v Nondescript RUFC

Lions Den, Ruaraka, Nairobi

Kenya Commercial Bank are unbeaten heading into match day four, having registered two close wins over Homeboyz and Strathmore respectively. They come up against a Nondies side who are yet to win a match this season. Former KCB front row duo of Edwin Alubaka and Derrick Wamalwa, now at Nondies, come up against their former team mates at the Lions Den.

A win for KCB will see them end the calendar year perched atop the log while Nondies will be out to register a morale boosting win to lift them off the Kenya Cup basement.

Champions Kenya Harlequin FC and the newly promoted Homeboyz are not in action as their would opponents on Saturday, Strathmore Leos and Mean Machine are involved in the university games.

Emirates Airlines Cup of Nations

The Kenya fifteens national team wind up their Emirates Cup fixtures with a clash against hosts the United Arab Emirates at The Sevens in Dubai. Kenya began their campaign with a last gasp 27-25 win over Brazil last Saturday and led 12-10 at half time before falling to a 17-44 defeat at the hands of Hong Kong on Tuesday. The match will be played at 2.00pm this afternoon and will be aired live on Supersport 7 with a repeated screening on December 18 at 12.50 on Supersport 1.

One Kenya

Take me back
to that place where the sand meets the ocean
where the mountain touches the sky
where the rich cope with the poor
where the Kalenjin tolerate the Kikuyu
where the Kikuyu tolerate the Luo
where all people fuse as one
one country
one flag
one Kenya

take me back
to that place where boys and girls
have equal opportunity
in a working...harmonious community
far removed from disunity
free from impunity

a place where you and me can live in peace
in harmony,in symphony,in synchrony
appreciating our idiosynchrocies
a place where children have the right to education, where women have the right to property, where citizens are free from poverty

a place where you and me have different views
but do not condemn each other and abuse
on grounds of race, tribe or religion
let us embark on a mission
seek to attain our vision
proudly without inhibition
one Kenya our ambition

a place where there is tolerance of each other
respect for one another

tolerance is the answer to this cancer caused by violence
too many of our people are suffering in silence
why do we sit back and watch them die?
why do we believe in revenge..in an eye for an eye?
why cant we come together seek to touch the sky?

Take me back
to that place where the sand meets the ocean
where the mountain touches the sky
where all people fuse as one
one country
one flag
ONE KENYA

So fine...so divine

So fine (acoustic version).mp3

I trust

Thinking the unthinkable
Dreaming the undreamable
Reaching the unreachable
I trust…
I trust…looking forward to getting what I don’t have
Waiting for that occasion that is still yet to happen
For if I trust…I believe…I learn patience…gain confidence
I grow…I know…
And with my spoken word and unspoken thoughts
I deal with my daily fears and my future worries
I trust…
That today is better than yesterday…
That tomorrow brings a bright, sunny day
Lonely hearts pair up in love…warring parties lay down their arms
Heathens see the light…corrupt leaders embrace integrity
Slam poetry ceases being sham poetry…scam poetry
And becomes more diverse...
Much more than having to rhyme at the end of each and every verse
That poets give us pieces that last more than just a season
Pen down pieces that fuse rhyme with reason
I trust…
I trust that you, you and you will not be caught by crises of confidence
Moral dilemmas…between a rock and a hard place…
That you opt to do the right thing...every time…all the time
I trust

Kenya Cup Match Day Three Preview

Tuesday 6 December 2011

The Kenya Cup enters its third weekend with another set of five fixtures on the card on Saturday 10 December 2011. Strathmore Leos are the early pace-setters, with two wins out of two. We preview the weekend fixtures.

Kenya Commercial Bank RFC v Strathmore Leos

Lions Den, Ruaraka

The last time these two sides met, Strathmore rallied from a 0-12 deficit to beat the bankers 28-12 and lift the 29th edition of the Impala Floodlits in April. They began their campaign with a match day one 21-3 win over Mwamba RFC before upsetting Impala RFC 6-5 in last weekend’s fixture. The Leos will be no pushovers and will be out to register a third successive win as the league begins to take shape.

The bankers, who entered the fray last weekend , registered a narrow 22-17 win over Homeboyz RFC last weekend at the Lions Den and apart from settling scores with the varsity students, will seek to register a comprehensive result against a Strathmore side that continues to grow in stature with every passing moment .

Kisumu RFC v Mean Machine RFC

Kisumu Polytechnic Grounds, Kisumu

Kisumu RFC led Nakuru RFC 10-7 before going down to a 29-10 defeat last weekend at the Nakuru Athletic Club. They play host to a Mean Machine side who were 0-17 losers to reigning league champions Kenya Harlequin FC at the RFUEA Grounds.

The first Kenya Cup match to be played in Kisumu sees the home side face a Mean Machine side who are out to relive their glory days by getting as many positive results as possible during the current campaign.

Kisumu would probably have drawn many positives from last weekend’s encounter against Nakuru, and after correcting their mistakes and backed by home ground advantage, will take the game to Machine.

Machine were not embarrassed in their defeat to Quins and this will be a motivating factor as they play Kisumu, seeking to bag all the points from this fixture.

Impala RFC v Nondescript RUFC
Impala Club, Ngong’ Road, Nairobi

Both sides suffered defeats as they began their Kenya Cup campaign on match day two, Impala falling to a 6-5 loss at the hands of Strathmore Leos while Nondies were 24-5 losers to Mwamba RFC.

Match day three sees these two sides pitted against each other, in pursuit of a win as they seek to navigate their way up the Kenya Cup leaderboard. It’s early days yet but every try, every point, every win counts towards the cumulative points at the end of the season.

Impala did the double over the white shirts, beating them home and away during the 2010-2011 campaign and will relish the opportunity to extend their dominance against a Nondies side who bolstered their squad in the off season, signing amongst others Derrick Wamalwa, Edwin Alubaka and Calvins Biko from KCB as they seek to return to the higher echelons of a league they once dominated in days gone by.

Kenya Harelquin FC v Homeboyz RFC
RFUEA Grounds, Ngong’ Road, Nairobi

Kenya Harlequin FC, the reigning league champions, registered their fourteenth win in fifteen Kenya Cup matches as they began their league defense with a 17-0 win over Mean Machine on Saturday 3 December 2011. They play a Homeboyz RFC side who gave a spirited performance in their 22-17 loss to Kenya Commercial Bank RFC on the same day.

Quins, unbeaten on the way to the Kenya Cup title last season will come into this match seeking to register another result that will keep them ahead of the pack. They will have to contend with a Homeboyz side who will definitely be relishing an upset win after being inspired by their performance last weekend.

Mwamba RFC v Nakuru RFC
Nairobi (Venue to be confirmed)

Mwamba RFC bounced back from a 21-3 defeat to Strathmore on the Kenya Cup’s opening day to register a 24-5 win over Nondies last weekend. They play host to a Nakuru side that rallied to beat Kisumu RFC 29-10 last weekend.

A good start to the season is imperative for both sides, a win is on the mind of both sets of coaching staff. Saturday’s tie could be a competitive fixture as Mwamba would like to maintain the tempo with a second successive win as they seek to improve on last year’s fourth place in the league. For Nakuru, a win away from home will see them stay unbeaten early in the season, giving them the momentum to challenge the pecking order for the overall crown at the close of the season.

All matches kick off at 4.30pm

Action also continues in the Eric Shirley, Nationwide and Universities leagues.

Real Fake

it is a materialistic...hedonistic world that we live in
where you are deemed cool by the money in your wallet
by the clothes you wear and the places you hang out
by the company you keep..by the neighborhood
you live in you try REAL hard
putting up appearances...you live your life FAKE
maintaining an expensive lifestyle...
trying to keep up with the Jones'
constantly in rent arrears..lacking bus fare...can't pay the bills
but must be seen on the party scene...doing anything to fit in
dancing...not because you enjoy the music but really out of the need to be seen
passing judgment on others yet you got your own flaws
with your many imperfections you think you are the epitome of perfection
you are not the sun...the world doesn't revolve around you
you see..unlike the sun you do not radiate warmth and light
you are cold and dark to those you say are not in your class
you've got class...acting class..
where they teach you how to fake it to put up appearances..
be pretentious...insincere...dishonest
take a long hard look at yourself...look at what you've become
manipulative...cold hearted...self centered
maybe if you humbled yourself...swallowed your pride
and got rid of your air of self importance and arrogance
got to see the world through the eyes of others
you would really say how you feel... you would be open about your situation
you wouldn't go through the motions
you wouldn't be a REAL FAKE
